We like to keep track of peoples ideas. There is something special about having an idea that is original and maybe even more special if you share the idea. What if everyone had the same idea about something, but no one knows because know one keeps track? Well, know we know and now we keep track.

Over time, this may be a very, very long list. We might have to rethink how we do this:

Podcast Episode 1: The Opinion Curve

Here are some idea highlights from this episode:

  • People should carry around a notebook in which to keep their ideas. Preferable a yellow notebook. This yellow notebook should itself be a symbol of the idea that ideas are a thing and that the idea of ideas is an idea worth having.

  • People should bring laundry bags with them on vacation so their dirty laundry doesn’t mix with their clean laundry.

  • Sporks are a good idea, but in practice they are far too much spoon and not nearly enough fork. Sporks should err on the side of fork.

  • There should be a better way to store and keep track of your online usernames and passwords.

  • You’ve heard of FOMO, but as you get older there needs to be a term for its opposite, such as ROMO (Relief of Missing Out).

  • Everyone has opinions on almost everything. We need to know how and when to express our opinions. Here is a curve that solves that problem:

  • Stock photos are the worst. Everyone should commit to stop using them

  • Bring back seeded watermelons (they taste better and have a better texture)

  • Freeze your glasses to make your liquids stay cooler longer

  • Every house should come with a detailed plan of its electrical circuitry.

  • A company that produces signs for homes that only use portions of Bible verses very obviously taken out of context. As in: “Wash your hands, you sinners! - James 4:8” (for hanging in a bathroom), and “The weak person eats only vegetables” - Rom. 14:2.
